Starting in early 2023, Vodafone will be rolling out a phased shutdown of their 3G network as part of a modernisation project. The project aims to improve the network experience for customers and bring 4G and 5G services to even more people across the UK.
So, what happens next?
Vodafone are looking to issue a host of updates, patches, and auto-enablement in the coming months. We will reach out to any customers who may be affected by the network adjustments.
Vodafone will begin initiating its first switch-off in Basingstoke and Plymouth areas throughout February. Affected users known to utilise their devices in these areas will be addressed and actioned first.
Based on the success of the initial phase affecting Plymouth and Basingstoke, the wider national switch-off of the Vodafone 3G network will begin. This project will be carried out on a region-by-region basis but at this stage, there are no details about the order in which regions will be addressed.
Vodafone is aiming to finalise and achieve a complete 3G switch-off before the end of 2023.
We will endeavour to keep customers updated as soon as we receive additional information and notifications from the network. If you have any questions or concerns about the Vodafone 3G Switch-Off, please do not hesitate to contact us by emailing us firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling us on 0330 400 4455.
