There are some important changes taking place which may impact customers travelling to the USA.
Our mobile network roaming partners (AT&T and T-Mobile) in the USA are in the process of switching off their 3G networks. AT&T have already done so, and T-Mobile will on 1 July 2022. This means that from 1 July 2022 those who roam in the USA may experience lower quality voice calls and slower data speeds. A solution is being worked on that will help mitigate impact at a network level.
How does this affect you?
These changes mean that from 1 July 2022 if you are roaming in the USA, you may experience lower quality voice calls and slower data speeds. There are some things that you should consider before travelling:
- Check your handset is a compatible handset (this can be done by checking the list of devices in the dedicated Vodafone webpage linked below)
- Check you have the latest software updates on your handsets and other devices you may be travelling with
- Be conscious that data coverage may be patchy so sending critical documents or data may be better done when stationary in an office or hotel.
